What is EXIF Data?

EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is the standard for storing metadata in image files. It records camera settings, dates, and copyright info directly into the file's binary header.

IPTC vs XMP

TIFF Structure Parsing

Our tool reads the byte-order (Big Endian or Little Endian) of the file to correctly interpret the numeric tags stored in the Image File Directory (IFD).

Does viewing metadata change my photo?

No. Our tool is strictly read-only. It reads the binary data into memory without modifying the original file on your disk.

Can I see deleted EXIF data?

If a file has been 'metadata-scrubbed' by a tool or social media platform (like Facebook), the data is permanently removed and cannot be recovered.

Why don't all photos have GPS?

GPS data is only available if the location services were active on the camera or phone at the exact moment the shutter was pressed.

Which file types are supported?

We currently support JPEG, JPG, and TIFF formats. We are working on adding RAW formats (CR2, NEF) and WebP support.
